Shifting device

The shifting device of a loading magazine is a practical device for the axial movement of the loading magazine away from the lathe. It is used to provide free access to the CNC lathe during servicing, or when changing the spindle reduction device. FMB manufactures bar loading magazines for single-spindle lathes (sliding and fixed headstock). The company also produces special version of its material flow systems for multi-spindle lathes.

The loading system for a lathe is charged from a lateral material storage system. From here, or via a bundle loader, the material bars are conveyed to an oil-flushed guide channel. This uses turbulence as a bearing as it propels the bars forward, before they are fed via the stabilising steady directly to the spindle stock where the main spindle is located. The round material is then clamped in place by the collet ready for machining . Remnant pieces are extracted by the loading magazine through the remnant flap during the bar change process.
